CNA Classes in Oklahoma (OK)

It’s hassle-free to earn CNA credentials in Oklahoma. Just complete the required training, pass an exam and register with the state.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education and Health handles CNA training and registration. D&S Diversified gives the exam. You can take the test at the OSU-OKC Technology Education Center. The OSU-OKC campus offers state-approved training, but there are also other options to choose from.

Requirements

To apply for a CNA program in Oklahoma, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass a TB test and drug test.
  • Show proof of up-to-date vaccines.
  • Pass a sex offender check.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.

Online CNA Training

Online CNA programs are flexible, but are subject to state rules. Online CNA courses cover nursing basics, medical terms and clinical procedures.

How to Apply

You have to pass state-approved training to get a CNA license in Oklahoma. This can be waived in some cases. If you have a nursing degree or your CNA license has lapsed, you may be exempt.

OSU-OKC offers a CNA training program. Tulsa Community College and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education are the other 2 main providers.

Training programs are at least 30 hours. OSU-OKC offers a 96-hour program at 6 locations across Oklahoma. It includes 24 hours of clinical work and 72 hours in the classroom. Clinical courses can be taken in the day or night.

Next, pass the Oklahoma Nursing Assistant Test. The test can be taken through Prometric. This is an independent testing site that is not part of the OSU training program. The exam is the same at all testing locations. It includes written questions and a clinical skills test. D&S Diversified can give you a sample test.

If you work for a health care facility, your employer may pay for your training and testing fees.

Fees

CNA courses in Oklahoma cost around $1,000. This includes books and study materials.

Certificate Renewal

The CNA license expires after 24 months. You must work as a CNA for at least 64 hours in this time. You also must take 24 hours of continuing education in this period.
